Cookie Policy, Crumb by Crumb
Thirteen sections naming every cookie and storage entry this site uses, what each one does, how long it lives and how to refuse it. No mystery jars here.

01.What Cookies Are
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser to remember things between pages and visits. Alongside cookies, modern sites (ours included) use localStorage — a browser feature holding small key-value entries that never travel to the server automatically. This policy covers both.
02.Our Philosophy: the Short Shelf
We keep the shelf nearly empty. No advertising cookies, no cross-site trackers, no social-media pixels, no fingerprinting. The handful of entries we set exist to log you in, remember your language and tell us — anonymously — which pages are slow. That's the whole pantry.
03.The Complete Inventory
Every entry this site can set, in one table. If it's not listed here, we don't set it.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
| svc_session | Cookie (essential) | Keeps you logged in securely between pages | Session |
| svc_lang | Cookie (preference) | Remembers your EN / FR choice | 12 months |
| svc_user | localStorage (essential) | Displays your nickname and login state in the header | Until logout or deletion |
| svc_consent | Cookie (essential) | Records your cookie consent decision | 6 months |
| svc_metrics | Cookie (analytics) | Anonymous page-performance statistics, no user ID | 30 days |
04.Essential Entries
The session cookie, login state and consent record are strictly necessary — the platform cannot function without them. Under Canadian and Québec privacy guidance, strictly necessary cookies don't require consent, though they still appear in this inventory because completeness beats convention.
05.Preference Entries
The language cookie saves you from re-choosing EN or FR on every visit. Decline or delete it and the site simply guesses from your browser settings each time — everything still works, just with one extra click occasionally.
06.Analytics Entries
Our single analytics cookie carries a random token, never your identity, and measures aggregate things: page load speed, popular games, error rates. We use these numbers to fix slow pages and improve games. No analytics data is shared with advertisers or data brokers — we have neither.
07.What We Never Use
No third-party advertising cookies. No remarketing tags. No social-network buttons that phone home. No session-replay scripts recording your clicks and keystrokes. No fingerprinting techniques designed to recognise you without cookies. If our practice ever changes, this list changes first and consent is asked fresh.
08.Third-Party Content
Two pages embed third-party resources: fonts load from Google Fonts (which sees your IP when delivering font files) and the contact page embeds an OpenStreetMap frame (which sets its own functional cookies under the OpenStreetMap Foundation's policy). Both are loaded only when you open the relevant pages.
09.Your Consent
On first visit we ask for consent for non-essential entries before setting them. You may change your mind anytime — withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it, and the platform never punishes refusal with nagging banners or broken features.
10.Managing Cookies in Your Browser
Every major browser lets you view, block and delete cookies and localStorage per site: Chrome (Settings → Privacy → Site settings), Firefox (Settings → Privacy & Security), Safari (Preferences → Privacy), Edge (Settings → Cookies and site permissions). Blocking our essential entries will log you out and forget your consent — the documented trade-off, not a punishment.
11.Do Not Track and GPC
We honour Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals: when your browser sends one, non-essential entries stay off without further dialogue. Legacy Do Not Track headers receive the same respect — rare courtesy, freely given, since our analytics are anonymous anyway.
12.Legal Basis
Cookie practices on this site follow PIPEDA, Québec's Law 25 and CRTC guidance on consent for stored information. Essential entries rest on necessity; preference and analytics entries rest on your explicit consent, logged with a timestamp you can request a copy of.
13.Changes and Contact
New cookie or storage entry → updated inventory table, new "Last updated" date and, where consent is needed, a fresh request. Questions about anything on this shelf: privacy@terradelsolevivo.com or the contact page. We answer within 48 hours.
